About us
The Youth Pastoral Commission of the Diocese of Shkodër-Pult has sought to undertake a number of initiatives for the good of young people and to respond, at least in some measure, to their needs.
A very important meeting, well attended by university students, is the Bible meeting led by Dom Simo Luliq. It takes place once a month and began in 2013. Another group of university students in Shkodër meets once a week to make a journey of faith based on the Social Doctrine of the Church. Thursday is dedicated to university students, from 8:00 to 17:00, with confessions, spiritual direction and Holy Mass, made possible by the community of the Carmelite Fathers at the Church of St Nicholas.
Those who work in the field of formation know very well that forming young people takes a great deal of time, yet that time is never lost, because it is a preparation that serves them for the whole of their lives.
The main objective of the Youth Pastoral Commission is the formation of young people. Over the last three years we have undertaken the initiative of training youth leaders. The aim of this training is for them to be a valuable and competent help in the parishes, in the pastoral centres and in the groups in which they live and serve.

The field of education is very broad, but we are convinced that education through sport is another field of great importance. In 2014–2015 we launched the initiative of training coaches, in cooperation with the Albanian Sports Centre and the Italian Sports Centre (CIS). The coaches are trained every month by the athletes Antonio Marku and Ana Gjelaj, and for one weekend by CIS specialists who come from Milan. The young people in training pass on their knowledge to the children of the various oratories, crowning it with football, volleyball and basketball championships.
Another very important objective is that the young people of our diocese should have opportunities to meet, to receive formation and to share experiences with one another through various gatherings. For this reason we have also set up a formation programme for adolescents, which takes place once a month at the Village of Peace.
All these initiatives, and others that we wish to undertake, also on the basis of suggestions from our co-workers, are a small sign compared with the great number of young people in our diocese. We believe that the future of the Church in Albania lies with its young people, this new generation after a Church that has risen again; for this reason, let us encourage them by our example and support them in their human and religious formation.
